Road Sign

This is the way I feel about my life right now! The road ahead is blocked but I'm not sure whether to go left or right.

Hi-Rise

This apartment building is just a couple of blocks from the museum house. It overlooks the river.

Shack

After church we went downtown to a cafe to get lunch; across the street was this little house that is part of the city museum. Simpler times simpler houses.

Old Bike

This isn't our bike, but I liked how simple and reliable it looked. An extended bike trip is sounding better and better to me! We have a tandem and use it around here on the bike paths. But a road trip sure sounds appealing about now.

Farewell Dinner

We had dinner last night at the Olive Garden with our employees. January 31st is their last day at work. We are closing down our business and will be moving on to something else. We're not sure what we will be doing or where we'll be doing it. Will keep you posted.

Palmetto Palm

I haven't posted in the last couple of days. This is a closeup of a palmetto palm. Gregg actually took this one when we were out the other day.

Ship Thingy

Gregg and I aren't sure what this is called and neither was the attorney who's office it was in, but it was kind of neat. Maybe I'll do a little research and find out the name of it. The whole office had the nautical theme going on.
P.S.: Just found out that this is a binnacle. Sailors used these to store their navigational tools in for safety and convenience. Now you know, if you didn't already!

Train Park

This little train goes around the park. I think the track is about a mile and a half. Gregg and I didn't ride it, but we saw it while there on our lunch break.

Grocery Shopping

The only thing other than work today was a quick trip to Publix for groceries. I felt a little conspicuous taking pictures in their produce dept.!

Road Trip

Our church had a used book sale going on today and one of the ones we picked up was about a retired couple cross-country cycling. They didn't go in one of these babies, but the thought got us yearning to just leave everything behind and take off on an adventure!

Thru the Woods

This is one of my most favorite walks. It is a boardwalk in the swamp. There is a bench on part of it that I like to sit on and just think.

Friday in the Park

At lunchtime I decided to escape the office and eat lunch in this park close by. It was very peaceful. I also happened to run into some friends from church who were out walking. They said this park used to be a lot more shady before Hurricane Charley visited.

Many Faces

David gave me this for Christmas. He had just gotten a digital camera and these are all self portraits taken while driving home from Birmingham! Literally driving, not just riding with someone else.

Michael

This is Michael. He makes us laugh! Yes, that is aluminum foil he is wearing on his head and yes we are at the office. Fortunately he didn't wear it very long.

Bouganvillea

These are also everywhere in FL and really help to brighten up the place. I thought when we moved here it would be a lot like CA and have flowers everywhere. But most of the places have very few flowery annuals.

Back Home in FL

We didn't see any palm trees in Tahoe. I like these ones that are not too far from our office. They line the streets everywhere around here.

Gondola

This is a view out our window at the Lodge. The Gondola is what you can use to take you up the mountain. We didn't go this day, but we did earlier in the week. Gregg and I skiied for the first time ever. He was better at it than me. Jed snowboarded and Sarah waited around for us with our packed lunch. We're glad she didn't take any risky chances with the baby-on-board!

Tahoe Ducks

These ducks seemed perfectly happy in the cold water of Lake Tahoe. I wish we had had some bread or something to feed them.

Blurry Picture of San Francisco Airport

We had to say goodbye to Jed and Sarah before the week was up because they had to go back to MN. This is a hastily snapped picture of the San Francisco airport (you can see the wording at the top of the frame) taken from the front seat of our rental car.

Alligator in Lake Tahoe

Being from Florida, we are used to seeing alligators everywhere, but Lake Tahoe?!! Sarah spotted this toy figure in the water and we had to get a snapshot of it.

Raccoon Carving

You see a lot of these carvings around Lake Tahoe. This one was outside where we were staying. I didn't capture the whole thing, but there are 2 more raccoons higher up on this totem pole type carving.

More Pictures of the Lake

This is such a beautiful spot. I'd like to visit in the summer, too, and see how it looks.

Ice Skaters

This little skating rink is near where we are staying for the week. We passed by it on the way to the grocery store. No desire to get out there with them! We are going to try skiing tomorrow though.

Lake Tahoe

Here we are at the edge of Lake Tahoe. The water is very clear and very cold! Someone passing by volunteered to take this photo.
See, I have my new coat on.

China Town

January 6th we met up with Sarah and Jed in San Francisco. We went to China Town and ate lunch. This is Sarah doing a little shopping in one of the stores. Lots of red!!

Reflection

As I was eating lunch the sound of this flag snapping in the breeze caught my attention. Then I noticed I could see it in the reflection of this office building. You can't tell too well in this photo, but it is still at half-mast in honor of the late Pres. Ford.

Holly

After work, as I was about to get in my car, this little holly tree caught my eye. It reminded me of the holly berries back home that the birds love to nibble on all winter.

Home Away From Home

Since I spend so much time at work I wanted to show a picture of my office. The door in the back opens out onto a private patio on the 2nd floor. Sometimes we have lunch out there when it is not too hot.

Ski Clothes

This one is kinda dumb, but I forgot to take my camera with me today and the only thing I did other than work was go shopping for some clothes to wear at Lake Tahoe. After being in FL for over a year, I really didn't have anything warm to wear.

2 Flowers on the Trail

Jan 1st, 2007. Gregg and I went for a walk around our Preserve and he took a picture of these 2 little flowers. I love the color!
